Report Assist - Natural Language Search Powered by Lineos

Natural Language Search Powered by Lineos lets you find lease records, companies, and people by typing plain-language questions instead of navigating menus or knowing exact field names. It is available in the Report Assist tab of the Lineos interface in LeaseAccelerator.

Powered by insightsoftware's Lineos AI, the feature understands lease terminology, partial names, date ranges, and common query variations so you can search the way you think, not the way the system is structured.

Note: The Lineos interface must be enabled for your organization before you can use this feature. Contact your administrator or Customer Success Manager to confirm it is active.

Key Capabilities

  • Search for deals, companies, and people using plain-language questions.
  • Refine results with follow-up prompts without starting a new search.
  • View results in a pin-to-view pop-up window that stays accessible while you work.

  • Get redirected to Advanced Search to build multi-filter queries manually when Lineos can't run them directly.
  • Receive clarifying questions from Lineos when your query is ambiguous.

Report Assist is trained on a defined set of searchable attributes. Prompts that fall outside supported search areas will not return results. Queries unrelated to deals, companies, or people are not supported in this release.

How It Works

You type a plain-language question in the Report Assist tab. Lineos interprets your query, identifies the right search type and fields, and returns matching records.

Results appear in a pop-up window separate from the Lineos chat. You can pin that window to keep it accessible while you continue working or searching.

The search maintains conversational context within a session. You can type follow-up prompts to refine your results, and the pop-up window will update. Context is lost if you clear the chat or navigate to a different screen. If you pin the results window, it remains open but the chat search stops interacting with it.

Note: For queries that require combining multiple filters, such as status plus location, or date range plus deal type, Lineos cannot run those queries directly and redirects you to Advanced Search, where you enter the filters manually.

Using Report Assist

Open the Report Assist Panel

  1. Log in to LeaseAccelerator.
  2. Click the Lineos icon on the right edge of the screen. The panel slides in from the right.
  3. Select the Report Assist tab at the top of the panel.

Note: The Lineos panel is available across all pages in LeaseAccelerator. You do not need to navigate to a specific module before searching.

Run a Search

Type your question in the chat field and press Enter. Results appear in a pop-up window.

Deals

Search Type Example Query
Document / Schedule number "Find lease 12345"
Company name "Show me all Microsoft leases"
Named participant "Deals with Sarah Johnson"
Status "Active leases"
Location (requires Advanced Search) "Leases in California"
Date range (requires Advanced Search) "Deals expiring next quarter"
Payment amount "Leases over $10,000 per month"
Participant role "Who is the landlord on deal 789?"
Combined filters (requires Advanced Search) "Terminated leases from 2023"

Tip: "Deal," "lease," and "schedule" all refer to the same record in LeaseAccelerator. Lineos understands all three terms.

People

Search Type Example Query
Person name "Find John Smith"
Participant on a specific deal "Who is the landlord on deal 789?"

When you search for a person, Lineos asks whether you want to view their person profile or see all deals where they appear as a participant. Select the one that matches your intent.

Companies

Search Type Example Query
Company name "Acme Corporation"
Company on deals "Show me all deals with Smith Industries"

When you search for a company, Lineos asks whether you want to view the company profile or see all associated deals.

Refine Your Search

After your first search, type a follow-up question in the chat field to narrow results further. Lineos maintains the context of your previous query, so you do not need to re-enter it.

Example:

  1. Type: "Show me all Microsoft leases"
  2. Follow up: "...starting in 2026"

The results window updates with the filtered list.

If your query is ambiguous, for example, a name that could match a person or a company, Lineos asks a clarifying question before searching. Answer it to get the right results.

Work with Results

Results appear in a pop-up window with key fields including Schedule #, Company, Status, and relevant details.

  • One result found: Results always appear in a pop-up window.
  • Multiple results found: Select the correct record from the list.

For deal results, the Deal # column displays the schedule number as a hyperlink.

For people or company results, the Action column displays the notepad icon.

  • No results: The chat window provides context on what was searched. The pop-up window displays: "No matching records found. Return to the Lineos chat to modify your search criteria."

Keep results accessible: Click the Pin Results button on the pop-up window to keep your results accessible while you continue working. The pinned results window stays visible even if you navigate away from LeaseAccelerator or close Lineos. Note that once you pin the results window, it no longer updates with subsequent searches. This behavior is consistent with how pinned results work in Advanced Search.

Prerequisites

Natural Language Search Powered by Lineos requires Lineos AI to be enabled for your organization. Contact your Customer Success Manager to request access.

Limitations

  • Search scope: Deals, people, and companies only. Asset search is not available in this release.
  • Results display: Results cannot be displayed inside the Lineos chat panel. They always appear in a separate pop-up window.
  • Context reset: Chat context resets when you clear the chat or navigate to a different screen. Once you pin the results window, the chat search stops interacting with it. The pinned window stays visible but does not update with subsequent searches.
  • Trained attributes: Lineos is trained on a defined set of searchable attributes. Prompts outside supported areas will not return results.
  • Multi-filter searches: Queries combining more than one filter type are not supported in Lineos. You will be redirected to Advanced Search to enter the filters manually.
  • Record display limit: Searches return a maximum of 1,000 records per query.
